You think your home is insulated, but is it?

Here’s a telltale sign. If your home was built before 1980, that automatically makes you one of the 77 million Americans whose homes are insufficiently insulated, if they are insulated at all. Prior to 1980, there were no building codes for insulation minimums. And even if your home was built after 1980, the standards for insulation have consistently changed over the years. The required insulation decades ago may not meet code today, which means it would be worth doing an insulation inspection.

How else can you tell if you need insulation? Answer these questions:

If you answer “Yes” to any of the questions below, we may be able to help. Let us do a home insulation inspection so you can know for sure.

  • Is your home too hot and stuffy in the summer?
  • Is it too cold in the winter?
  • Are your energy bills higher than expected?
  • Do your allergies flare up when you are IN your house?
  • Is the upper floor 5-10 degrees hotter than the main floor in summer…colder than the main floor in winter?
  • Are some rooms in your home a different temperature than others, even on the same floor?
  • Do you feel drafts in certain rooms?
  • Does your air conditioner work overtime in summer?
  • Does your furnace seem like it never gets a break in the winter?
  • Do you keep fidgeting with the thermostat to keep your home at a comfortable temperature?
  • Are outside noises such as barking dogs, lawn mowers and traffic bothersome when you are inside?
  • Does your roof collect dangerous icicles and ice dams in sub-freezing weather?
  • Are you using portable heaters, extra blankets, and wearing an extra layer of clothing during the winter months?
  • Are you turning on fans, buying window A/C units, and sleeping without sheets or blankets during the summer?
  • Are you considering getting a new A/C unit, furnace or windows with the hope that it will help you feel more comfortable in your home?
  • Are you able to see the floor joists in the attic?
  • Was your home built before 1980 when insulation was first required in new homes?

You checked all of the boxes. Continue on.

Our home insulation inspection takes multiple factors into consideration:

  • Your energy consumption
  • Your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system (HVAC)
  • Your geographical region and climate
  • Your home’s dimensions

The crew that did the job were extremely courteous and knowledgeable. They also worked very efficiently and the clean-up afterward was great. They left the property clean as it was when they came. Kudos to Ian and his crew! I noted that the house was a lot quieter after the job was done. Too soon to judge how much warmer the house is, since the heating season is almost over. Hopefully this will make a big difference this coming winter. I did not note any "chemical smell" since the insulation was completed. I read that this could be an issue, however, as stated, I didn't notice any chemical odors. Thank you for a job well done so far!

USA Insulation was great. Justin and Dean from the sales team were fantastic to work with. The crew, DJ and Pauli who did the job were very professional and considerate. Did a great job and in a timely manner. Would recommend highly!

Excellent team. On time, very courteous and professional. They came, they saw and they kicked butt. Bree was fantastic in the office. Chris is a delight to speak to. Would recommend them in a heartbeat. I can't believe the difference in the warmth of the house and also a big bonus is the noise barrier the foam creates because I no longer here street traffic. I'm only saddened by the fact I only have 1 house to insulate. Next house I buy USA Insulation will be the first company I contact. Can't wait to see the difference in my utility bills.

Andy, Quention, and Ryan were amazing!

Crew was knowledgeable. Willing to assist when ever requester. Clif, Tyler, and DJ were very personable and willing to interact in a very positive and constructive way. Work was completed professionally with a high amount of efficiency. When we had the carbon monoxide issue all three understood the seriousness of the situation and reacted appropriately. They were concerned about the quality of the job and completion in a timely manner. I was especially pleased in their willingness to help clean the area upon exiting.
The carbon monoxide issue was caused by a crack in my furnace heat exchanger. The police, medical staff, and fire department all arrived at my house at once. Clif and Tyler were checked out to ensure that there were no issues with their health. USA insulation was in no way at fault for the creation of the carbon monoxide but were willing to make sure that all was handled safely.
